Rotary Notes July 7, 2016
7:18 Mary opened with no mic a true testament to her power as a leader
Lots of guests
Mary introducing “Why Rotary” – long time members speaking to why they are Rotarians.
Mary started the “Why Rotary” with a crown and a shot of Scotch – the year starts off with a bang and a shot
She then did a Meditative Moment or as she called it "m squared" - if you add Mary's Meditative Moment into the mix it becomes "m cubed" - just saying.
Many happy returns to the birthday club of four today.

Guest Speaker Beth Kish
Spoke about the new Supportive Care Centre and the Capital Campaign showing the plans for the 4800 sq foot facility and explaining the reason there will be a Supportive Care Centre within walking distance of the new combined multi use building containing the new Hospice Unit, the Mental Health Unit and an Extended Care Unit.. The Hospice Society is looking to raise 1.5 million dollars to build this facility on property already owned by the Hospice Society purchased across from the hospital on 16A Ave and just down the road from the new Hospital building. It was explained that while the Hospice Unit will provide the actual medical care for terminal patients, the Hospice Society is the entity that provides all the support for the patient and the patient’s family as well as all day visitation with patients, vigils, free counselling for patients and families during and after their move to Hospice, community outreach, and so much more. The Hospice Society are the advocates for the patient and their family so that their experience is one of comfort, partnering and support through this difficult and emotionally challenging time.
