Mayor Diane Watts "Unplugged"

Our club was honoured to have Mayor Diane Watts as guest speaker on March 17, 2011. Mayor Watts spoke "unplugged" about the City of Surrey and its various and unique neighbourhoods. The discussion was lead by Rotarian Nancy Shewfelt and focused on Community Service, which is one of the five avenues of service in Rotary and a large part of the work done by Semiahmoo Rotary.
Recently, Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in Surrey and spoke about the successful "WRAP" Program undertaken in Surrey. The city, local businesses, service clubs and various city facilities are wrapping our citizens and in particular our youths giving everyone a feeling of support and of belonging.
Several guests also attended the breakfast meeting and learned about Surrey and about the focus of the Semiahmoo Rotary Club.
